Bathroom and Laundry
In the bathroom it is necessary to take into account comfortability, safety, energy saving measures and water usage. It is also important to use environmentally friendly cleaning products and detergents and to make sure that the air quality in the bathroom is satisfactory. Cleanliness is important but should not be pursued in excess. Too much cleanliness can be very expensive for nature. Overuse of detergents is unfortunately very common. Cleaning products made from chemicals can have detrimental effects on human health. Besides, cleaning products eventually end up in the ocean and cause a lot of damage.
“Homemade ecological advice” is often more efficient than detergents. Old Coca Cola, for instance, cleans the toilet extremely well and the best paper to use on the bathroom mirror is newsprint. Vinegar and salt make the bathtub glisten white again. These chemicals are not detrimental to the ocean’s ecosystem for decades after use. These are some of the simple things we can make a part of our daily routine and thus have a positive impact on the environment.
It is important that the task of doing the laundry is designed for the people that work there. Even though modern washing machines and dryers do most of the work, there is still lot of things that have to be taken care of, especially when there are children in the household. Daily washing creates a big load both for the worker and for the environment which provides water and energy and accepts dirty water in the end.
