Green Maps of Nature

Green Map Iceland is a joint international project of Nature.is and the Green Map® System. The Icelandic Green Map is based on the Green Map® universal icon system and Nature's extensive research work (over a period of nine years) including registrations on the Green Pages™, a massive database of eco-friendly information on Icelandic business and tourism.

The Green Map online version is published in Icelandic, English, German, Italian and French along with the enormous amount of information displayed on the site. We also published a printed version of the Green Map of Reykjavík in the autumn of 2010 and again in the summer of 2011. In the autumn of 2012 we published a printed version of the Organic Map of Iceland. In the autumn of 2013 we published a printed version Grænt kort/Green Map IS with Iceland on one side and Reykjavík on the other. 60 thousand copies of the printed version have been distributed free of charge and we hope to be able to release a new version soon. 

The drive behind this enormous task of ours ist to encourage sustainable living as well as leading tourist to truly green companies and safe destinies in nature.

Soon we will release an app version of that map.

Registration is available to anyone whose operation has been certified by acknowledged authorities or fulfills other criteria set by the Green Map® System, as we are commited to avoid practicing greenwashing of any kind.

The map’s purpose is to point out the many eco-friendly opportunities available throughout the country and to encourage people to support companies who act responsibly towards the environment. Today there are around 4 thousand entries on our Green Map.
