The Advent wreath is an important part of the Christmas Festivities. Being circular in shape it thus represents the infinite universe as well as being a symbol of God and eternity. The four candles stand as symbols of measurement of time. The word advent means the coming or arrival of especially something awaited or momentous like Christmas.
