Some of Fairtrade’s goals are: To ensure that farmers and workers receive a fair price for their products and fair wages for their labour so that they are empowered to fulfil their potential, enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods and decide on their own future. A commitment to fighting the root causes of child labour and proactively preventing abuse and exploitation of children. To empower producers  to protect the environment in which they work and live. To work towards ending discrimination on the basis of race, colour, sex, religion, political opinion, national extraction or social origin.

Fairtrade is also known as Fairtrade Max Havelaar in The Netherlands, France and Switzerland.
