Products of sustainably harvested natural resources and/or input approved in organic production. Collection and processing of certified product are subject to requirements similar to those for organic products, except for different ecolabelling.
Food is grown locally and processed locally. If processed it is either sold locally or domestically. Not neccesarily organic.
Tourism company or institute that has received an environmental prize, operates as a Green hostel, has achieved the environmental standard of Vakinn, or has internationally approved environmental certification such as the Earth Check or the Nordic Swan.

Taste the Westfjords - Local food
“Taste the Westfjords“ is a regional development project in Food Tourism. The aim is to promote and increase the visibility of Westfjords‘ top quality food. The purpose of the project is to foster and build up a progressive cooperation amongst Westfjords‘ companies, food producers, restaurants, shops and tourism agents. Innovation is encouraged and special emphasis is put on product development, motivating new techniques in the production, processing and cooking practices of Westfjords local ingredient and related services.
